Following the strict rules of the Backing Bands –who have traditionnally accompanied singers of every generation so far– Botanical Roots Band is five musicians (bass, drums, guitar, piano and percussions), often rejoined by other percussions and horn players. The Band provides the very same energy and pleasure in playing an old reggae classic of the 70’s as in playing the latest ragga tune. As for endurance, the Band has shown its ability to hold onto the stage, playing sometimes up to three consecutive hours, without a single break or a change whatsoever… That simply means that Botanical Roots Band is ready to play with a reggae « old-timer » on roots rythms and to continue later on with a new-generation emerging singer, who plays his own compositions, on more modern rythms.
Botanical Roots Band was born in early 2005. Some of its musicians have been into reggae for more than fifteen years, and have worked with Rico Rodriguez, Mad Lighters, Moonraisers, Liquid Roots System, Colors et Akamassa. The Band is five musicians, to whom one or more horn-player/s are frequently added. They play as a backing band for Swiss singers ( such as BenJahman, Jr. Tshaka, P.O.W, Jacka Youth... ) and recently for International singers as well Errol Dunkley, Echo Minott ( Jamaica ) and Uwe Banton ( Germany ). The Band is motivated by any backing session, be it requested by promoters or directly by the singers themselves. Located in The Colors Studio in Neuchâtel in Switzerland in which they constantly create. They have therefore the ability to offer, with their collaboration, optional recording.
2007, Botanical Roots Band is recording an album with BenJahman, out for the end of the year 2007.
