Tom Swift is the human orchestra, the one-man band of a different kind. No artificial flavours! The Groove Professor invades your brains with his Loopomatic Groove Circulator. Organic grooves, 100% addiction! After backing Swiss German Sing-Jay Phenomden at all the major Swiss festivals in Summer 2009 behind the keyboards, followed by a Europe and Japan Tour with Singer&Songwriter Lee Everton, Tom Swift starts his solo moves. „My mind is invaded by loops! And if I can’t find the right lyrics to nail them, they just continue circling in my head. So I let myself being carried away by the groove and wait for the right words to pop up!“ Inspired by Jamie Lidell and Bobby McFerrin Tom Swift started his one man shows in the small clubs in Basel, Switzerland. Before he joined the Scrucialists as Keyboarder in 2007 and entered the world of Reggae, he funked alongside Joe Johnson (The Looters) with The Fabulous Tools. His first album titled „Loopomatic Groove Circulator“ is the result of one years work in his laboratory at One Drop Studios. Some of the songs are recorded with only voice, a vintage talkbox, beatbox and keyboards, so called Organic Grooves. Others are recorded together with the band “The Scrucialists”. Whether he sings in English or Swiss German, Tom Swift masters the soulful connection between Funk and Reggae. After touring successfully in Switzerland with his Loopomatic Groove Circulator and The Swelltones he's now in the studio, working on his second album, which will come out in autumn 2012.

Motown on a Carribean summer break
Unbelievably upbeat grooves, tap-your-foot-along tunes, and all this from just a one-man-orchestra?! On his solo debut, apt Tom Swift manages to avail himself of an impressively rich palette of sound colours and pull off very well-crafted arrangements for his sunny song creations. Although sometimes backed by Basel's riddim veterans The Scrucialists, this timbral width is remarkable for a solo project. Also remarkable is the energy he manages to exude and the self-reliant originality with which he tackles established 'Golden Greats' such as Uptight or Man in the Mirror. On the other hand, some of his own songs still need to outgrow being a little overshadowed by the admiration he holds for artists such as Bobby McFerrin, or endangered by slightly imitating the grand old lords of 70's Funk and Soul. To sum up, Tom Swift & his loopomatic groove circulator makes for a very refreshing debut by an artist with great potential, stage presence and musical and entertainment capabilities.
